The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand said that the temperature at the end of this week, February 19-20, will be 50 days ahead of the climatic course, RIA Novosti reports.
“Night temperatures in the center of European Russia will be -2...-7 degrees, daytime temperatures +1... +3 degrees. Wednesday night will be -8 degrees. From Monday to Wednesday the temperature will be 6-7 degrees above the norm, but it will still correspond to the March values, and April weather will come confidently from Thursday: the temperature will be 11 degrees above the norm. This will even correspond to the second decade of April,” Vilfand explained.
He clarified that a sharp warming is typical for the European part of Russia. The reason is warm air masses moving from the south.
“Precipitation will be mainly in the form of rain and sleet… The temperature is April, but it is not yet spring. What a spring, if there is so much snow, ”explained Vilfand.
