President of the FFKKR called the CAS decision on Valieva a triumph of common sense

President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Gorshkov spoke about the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to allow figure skater Kamila Valieva to further participate in the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. He stressed that this verdict is a triumph of common sense.

“The only thing I can say is that common sense and justice have triumphed - that’s all,” Gorshkov said.

Kamila Valieva, as part of the Russian national team, became the champion of the 2022 Games in the team championship, but the award ceremony was postponed due to the fact that traces of trimetazidine in a microdose were found in her doping test taken in December. Valieva was given a temporary suspension, which she challenged with the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), and the restrictions were lifted. The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Skating Union (ISU) filed an appeal with CAS, but it was rejected.

Earlier, Olympic champion in ice dancing Natalya Bestemyanova spoke about the decision of CAS to allow Kamila Valieva to further participate in the 2022 Games.
