From March, new rules for obtaining a medical certificate will apply to drivers

From March of this year, drivers who have lost their license for drunk driving or refusing a medical examination will have to take mandatory tests to obtain a medical certificate for driving. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the head of the All-Russian Society of Motorists Valery Soldunov.

He recalled that, according to the old rules, those who lost their rights and made a new medical certificate received it in the general manner. That is, a blood test and other tests were not carried out.

“According to the new rules, if a driver was deprived of his license for driving while intoxicated or for refusing a medical examination, he will have to pass these tests,” the expert explained.

For ordinary drivers who did not commit gross violations of traffic rules, nothing will fundamentally change, the expert specified. At the same time, he added that if a doctor on a medical examination reveals signs of chronic alcohol or drug use in a motorist, he can be sent for testing.

Earlier it was reported that the Supreme Court upheld the ban on driving after consuming Corvalol - this is due to the fact that the drug contains phenobarbital and alcohol. As the doctors explained, these substances have a depressing effect on the central nervous system and can really lead the driver to a tragedy on the road. At the same time, "heart" drops are far from the only drug popular with Russians, for which they can be deprived of their rights or registered with a narcologist, experts warned.
