The Duma will develop a draft resolution on state funds for the construction of animal shelters

On Monday, February 14, a working group of the State Duma of the Russian Federation to develop proposals for improving legislation on the responsible treatment of animals will discuss a draft Duma resolution aimed, among other things, at allocating federal funds for the construction of shelters for stray animals. This was reported by TASS with reference to the head of the working group, the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Vladimir Burmatov.

The allocation of federal funds for the construction of shelters, the construction of standard shelters according to projects approved by the relevant department and sent to the regions, as well as accounting for the identification of animals will be discussed.

Burmatov noted that it is also necessary to provide for the creation of a system for responding to citizens' appeals. He pointed out that it is often not clear to people from different regions where to call if, for example, they see a pack of stray dogs. The parliamentarian believes that there should be a certain center where this information is received and then transferred to those who are engaged in trapping.

It is also planned to discuss programs for the sterilization of animals "and the provision of grants to volunteer organizations, that is, direct support for volunteers."

The State Duma also proposed to fine the Russians to solve the problem with stray dogs.
