Orenburg Commissioner for Children's Rights Linkova offered to shoot stray dogs

The Children's Ombudsman of the Orenburg Region, Anzhelika Linkova, said that she would prepare an appeal to the presidential commissioner for children's rights to discuss at the federal level the issue of attacks on people by stray dogs. On her Instagram page, she suggested tougher liability for pet owners, shooting stray dogs if necessary, and other measures.

The day before, a criminal case was opened in the region against officials of the housing and communal services department of the Orenburg mayor's office after a 13-year-old girl was injured.

“I know that I will provoke the wrath of animal rights activists. I know that the solution to the problem lies by no means in the same plane, the topic is really complex, ”Linkova wrote on the social network. She proposed to develop a law “tightening the responsibility of animal owners, which is already being done at the federal level at the initiative of the head of the Russian Investigative Committee; and shooting where needed.

The Children's Ombudsman has scheduled a meeting to develop actions at the regional level.

“In my opinion, society has driven itself into a dead end with double standards and vague priorities,” Linkova concluded.

Earlier it became known that the mayor's office of Yakutsk, as well as the head of the city, Evgeny Grigoriev, banned mentioning their accounts on the social network Instagram. In addition, State Duma deputy Sardana Avksentyeva blocked the ability to tag her account. According to users, officials did this due to pressure from animal rights activists who monitor the actions of the Yakutsk authorities after the death of a woman from stray dogs.
