Forecaster promised Muscovites an abnormally warm end of winter

Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said in an interview with RBC that anomalous heat will remain in Moscow until the end of February.

He noted that spring will come in the capital prematurely. According to the forecaster, on Thursday, February 17, it will be cloudy in the city due to the approaching North Atlantic cyclone, it will snow, turning into rain.

“In the dark time of the day it will be near zero, in the afternoon with an increase to plus 3 - plus 5. On Friday [February 18], intense mixed precipitation, but with a predominance of the liquid phase, will continue, during the day not lower than plus 3 - plus 5, and these are the average daily climatic values ​​for the period April 2–7,” the specialist said.

For two days in the Moscow region will fall about 7-12 mm of precipitation. This is approximately equal to the volume of one bucket of water per 1 sq. m, or a third of the monthly norm. Wind gusts will reach 13–18 m/s.

Also on the night of February 18, atmospheric pressure in the capital will drop sharply - to 724 mm Hg. Art. (more than 20 units below the norm).

In the city, snowdrifts will begin to melt quickly, as the weather will be warm. By the weekend, the snow depth in Moscow will decrease from 39 to 35 cm, which is 4 cm lower than expected.

“It will be a little cooler over the weekend, but the thaw and the chance of rain will continue,” the meteorologist added.

Earlier, Tishkovets said that on Friday, February 11, the air temperature in the capital rose to + 2.8 ° C, which made this day the warmest day of the winter.
