Militants abduct six UN employees in southern Yemen

Yemen Press Agency journalists reported, citing sources, that unidentified militants abducted six employees of the United Nations in southern Yemen. RIA Novosti writes about this.

"According to local sources, six UN employees, including one Bulgarian and five Yemenis, were abducted by unknown militants ... in the province of Abyan," YPA reports.

Russell Ghiki, senior communications adviser to the UN humanitarian aid coordinator in Yemen, told Xinhua News Agency that the kidnapping took place on the road to the city of Aden, where the organization's employees were returning after work.

“The UN is in close contact with the authorities to secure their (UN staff) release,” he stressed.

Earlier, the military tribunal of the Democratic Republic of the Congo ordered the execution of 51 people responsible for the kidnapping and murder of two UN employees in 2017.
