Law-abiding drivers will be deprived of discounts on OSAGO

The Ministry of Finance refused to make OSAGO more accessible to drivers with a high bonus-malus coefficient - those who follow traffic rules and do not get into an accident. The discount for such motorists is not contained in the upcoming bill to tighten OSAGO, found out.

The new bill provides for an expansion of the limit of compensation for harm to life and health to 2 million rubles and repairs without taking into account the wear and tear of spare parts. Drivers will not be able to refuse these options, and accident-free drivers will not be able to pay for OSAGO at current inexpensive rates.

“Implementation of the proposed approach in OSAGO will create a rather strange situation: the driver, concluding an agreement, will decide what payment the person affected by his actions will receive: that is, they will pay the victim for the repair of the entire car or only 50%, pay 20 thousand rubles for the injury, or 80 thousand rubles. Most likely, most drivers will choose the cheapest policies, taking into account wear and a smaller sum insured. The goal of the reform is to ensure sufficient payments in the event of an accident, regardless of which policy the culprit chose at one time, ”the press service of the Ministry of Finance said.

The Russian Union of Motor Insurers believes that after the introduction of new rules, the cost of OSAGO on average can increase by 60%, and for emergency drivers, policies will rise in price by up to 80%.

Experts believe that the new bill disavows the idea of CMTPL individualization, and many accident-free drivers have to pay for those who drive carelessly and become the culprit of an accident. Details are in the material.
