Accused of murder after quarrel in parent chat face 30 years in prison

The state prosecution has asked for a total of 30 years in prison for three defendants in the case of the murder of a man due to a quarrel in a parent chat in Volgograd. This was reported by the joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Volgograd region.

“The prosecution suggested that the main defendant be sentenced to 13 years in prison to be served in a strict regime correctional colony, his sister to 7 years in prison to be served in a correctional colony of general regime, his brother-in-law to 10 years in prison to be served in a correctional colony of strict regime ", the court said.

The process has been ongoing since January 2021 in the Central District Court of Volgograd. The next hearing is scheduled for February 22.

The conflict in the parent chat occurred at the end of October 2020. Roman Grebenyuk allegedly insulted one of the participants, after which she asked her brother, Arsen Melkonyan, to deal with him. Melkonyan insisted on a personal meeting in order to sort things out. Due to pressure and threats, Grebenyuk agreed and offered to meet at a bank branch in the Central District of Volgograd.

The woman's husband and her brother came to the "negotiations" and started hitting the man on the head, as a result of which he died.

Melkonyan, during one of the court sessions, threatened the main witness with reprisals. After the defendant's statement, the state prosecutor drew up a report on the presence of signs of a crime in the words of the defendant, after which he handed it over to the investigating authorities.
