Navalny is suspected of stealing 2.7 million rubles in donations

Russian blogger Alexei Navalny, who is serving a sentence in a colony in Pokrov, Vladimir Region, in the Yves Rocher case, is suspected of fraud on an especially large scale, TASS reports.

On February 15, during an off-site hearing, the court considers two new charges in the Navalny case - fraud on an especially large scale and contempt of court during the previous court session.

According to the state prosecutor, Navalny stole about 2.7 million rubles, which were donated by four citizens. They believed that these funds would be used to fight corruption.

The prosecutor also recalled two episodes of insulting judge Navalny at a trial in the case of libel against a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. “Navalny showed clear disrespect for the court and the participants in the process, using a number of insulting statements,” the state prosecutor recalled.

Criminal cases of fraud against Navalny were opened more than a year ago. According to the investigators, Navalny stole about 350 million rubles. The money was allocated as donations to the FBK (the organization is included by the Ministry of Justice in the list of foreign agents and banned in Russia).
