Russia (bbabo.net), - A resident of Magadan lost almost two million rubles, believing scammers.

In December 2021, a 57-year-old woman received a call from unknown people. They introduced themselves, as happens in such cases, first as law enforcement officers, then as bank employees. They reported that the interlocutor's nephew had taken a loan for 165,000 rubles and was not making payments on it. Despite the fact that the Magadan woman does not have a nephew, she took the million rubles she had and went to the other end of the city at night to transfer money. Within three hours, I transferred all available funds through the bank terminal. She performed 72 operations, transferring 15 thousand rubles to different accounts.

Over the next month and a half, the scammers kept in touch with the woman. They convinced her to take out several loans for more than 900 thousand rubles, one of which was secured by an apartment. The victim transferred all the money to the attackers, and only after that they interrupted communication. Thus, the Far East lost 1 million 924 thousand rubles.

The woman began to guess about the deceit when they began to call her from banks, asking why there were no payments on loans. Magadanka contacted the police. She knew about the tricks of telephone scammers, but she was sure that this could not happen to her.

"A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum sanction is imprisonment for up to ten years," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region reports.
