This was warned by a virologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor at the Gamaleya Center Anatoly Altshtein.
He noted that the antibodies are quite bad at neutralizing previous strains. At the same time, the chance of getting "delta" is quite high - about 30 percent.
"The rest of the strains play almost no role in the development of this epidemic," the expert said on Sputnik radio.
The virologist recalled that there is also cellular immunity. Therefore, it cannot be said that Russians who have become infected with the “omicron” are not at all immune to other variants of the coronavirus.
At the same time, the strain "omicron" in most cases causes a milder form of COVID-19. After a severe covid - more antibodies, after a mild one - less. But not always. It all depends on the individual characteristics of the human body. “Perhaps a person after a mild infection will have a lot of antibodies,” Altstein concluded.
