Veterans of Russia will ask Putin to create a special headquarters to combat cybercrime

The chairman of the Veterans of Russia movement, Ildar Rezyapov, is preparing an official appeal to President Vladimir Putin. He will ask to consider the possibility of creating a special headquarters in Russia to combat cybercrime and telephone scammers under the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, according to a press release received by.

The reason for the initiative was an incident involving a veteran of the FSB and KGB special forces, the head of the children's military-patriotic center "Vympel" of Russia, Svyatoslav Omelchenko, who became a victim of telephone scammers. In two days, all the savings in the amount of almost 3 million rubles were stolen from his account.

The problem of telephone fraud requires coordination of the activities of state structures: the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Roskomnadzor, the financial banking sector, as well as all mobile operators in Russia, stressed in Veterans of Russia.

“This problem as a whole requires a systematic approach, within which it is necessary to develop recommendations for taking measures aimed at blocking the unauthorized use of telephone numbers, prepare proposals for improving the current legislation, find solutions to problematic issues related to IP telephony algorithms, and also provide the necessary the level of interaction and integration of relevant federal executive bodies,” the organization said.

Additionally, an appeal was sent to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation with a request to take personal control of the situation with fraudulent actions against Omelchenko and bring the perpetrators to criminal liability.
