A small Italian hotel with a restaurant for climbers Rifugio Guido del Cervino may be in Switzerland. It is reported by The New Yorker.

The thing is that initially the border between Italy and Switzerland was drawn along the highest points of the glacier, however, due to global warming, the ice began to melt, and now the ice peaks have ceased to be the highest points of the massif in some places.

At the same time, Italy signed agreements with Austria and Switzerland in the 2000s stating that the border between the countries can be considered “mobile”, from which it is assumed that in the event of glacier melting and related changes in the demarcation of states, the countries will not regularly agree on the exchange territories.

At the moment, the border in Rifugio Guido del Cervino passes in close proximity to the building, and it is assumed that in the near future the restaurant may be in Switzerland. In this case, the owners of the institution will pay taxes under Swiss law and use francs instead of euros. However, thanks to the Schengen area, people will also be able to move between the two countries without restrictions.

Earlier, the Estonian Parliament refused to ratify the border treaty between Russia and Estonia.
