Ex-coach Medvedeva spoke about the scandal with Valieva's doping test

Hasmik Vardanyan, former figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva's coach, spoke about the Russian doping scandal Kamila Valieva at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

“Of course, it is very difficult to perform under such pressure. Especially considering her age - 15 years. Worry, worry and understand that a lot of people speak out against you ...

But millions of times more people speak out in support of Camila and, in my opinion, cover all the burden that has fallen on her. It's good that people are not silent, but talk about supporting the skater and helping her not to lose heart.

As for my opinion on the situation, it would be incompetent on my part to talk about it before the final decision is made - I can’t talk about this topic. The only thing I can say is that it's very annoying. And everything else should be clarified during the proceedings,” Vardanyan said.

Recall that trimetazidine was found in Valieva’s doping test taken in December 2021. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decided to reject the appeal of international organizations that challenged the skater's admission to individual competitions at the Olympics.

After that, the IOC stated that if Valieva gets into the prize-winners of the individual tournament, the awarding of the figure skaters will be postponed until the proceedings against the Russian woman are completed.

Valieva is leading after the short program at the Olympics. On the second line is another Russian woman - Anna Shcherbakova. The top three is closed by the Japanese athlete Kaori Sakamoto.

The girls will perform their free program on February 17.

Earlier it was reported that the International Skating Union (ISU) will consider the preliminary world record for figure skaters at the 2022 Games if it is set by Russian Kamila Valieva.
