Russia - Free clinical examination for guide dogs will be introduced in St. Petersburg

Russia (bbabo.net), - In the northern capital, guide dogs will be able to undergo medical examination at the expense of the city budget. This was reported by TASS with reference to the head of the city veterinary department Yuri Andreev.

There are not so many animals that serve as guides to their owners in St. Petersburg, Yuri Andreev noted. They receive a federal subsidy - about 20 thousand rubles a year - for veterinary procedures. But for a full-fledged monitoring of the health of dogs, this amount is often not enough.

Now the department is calculating how much money will need to be allocated for their annual medical examination. It is expected that this procedure will be introduced from 2023.

The current year has been declared in St. Petersburg the Year of Animal Care.
