More than 130 people have been killed by floods in Brazil

The number of victims of landslides and floods caused by heavy rains in the Brazilian Petropolis has reached 136 people, 213 are missing. It is reported by the Brazilian TV channel Globo.

Rescuers managed to extract 24 survivors from the rubble.

Among the 136 dead, 81 were women and 50 were men, 22 of whom were minors. A total of 89 bodies have been identified so far. The Medical School of Law also received fragments of three other bodies - in this case, it is impossible to determine whether they are male or female.

After four days of searching, the fire department believes rescuing living victims from the mud and debris is still possible.

On February 17, the governor of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro, said that due to heavy rain that hit the city of Petropolis, 78 people were killed, including eight children, 35 local residents were missing.
