The governor of the Orenburg region, Denis Pasler, said that the region is preparing to receive evacuated residents of the DPR and LPR. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The Orenburg region is ready to receive residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. We cannot stand by when so many women, children and the elderly are at risk. We are talking about people's lives, so there can be no other solution. The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry has been notified of our readiness,” Pasler said.
He stressed that he had already instructed to begin preparations for the reception. According to the governor, the question of how many people the Orenburg region will be able to accept is currently being decided, and the social service of the region is preparing, if necessary, to provide the arrivals with basic necessities.
Earlier, Acting Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Chupriyan held an operational meeting in Rostov-on-Don, during which he instructed to determine which other regions are ready to accept refugees from Donbass.
On February 18, the heads of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation, explaining such a measure by the threat of an imminent attack by the Ukrainian military. According to the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, the Donetsk military daily records the increase in the number of lethal weapons by the Ukrainian army, including the Smerch and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, as well as the American Javelin and Stinger man-portable missile systems.
