Another Russian region declared its readiness to accept Donbas refugees

The Governor of the Altai Territory, Viktor Tomenko, said that the region is ready to receive residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, whose authorities have announced evacuation to Russia, accusing the Ukrainian armed forces of preparing an offensive operation. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press secretary of the governor Dmitry Negreev.

“The issue is under the control of Governor Viktor Tomenko. The government of the Altai Territory sent a letter of readiness to accept refugees to the Russian Emergencies Ministry,” Negreev said.

How many refugees are ready to accept in Altai, he did not specify.

The heads of the DPR and LPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik announced the evacuation of the civilian population on February 18. Initially, it was planned that everyone would be placed in the Rostov region, but help was offered to residents of Donbass in other regions of Russia, as well as in the capital of Abkhazia, Sukhum.

After the start of the evacuation, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to pay the refugees 10,000 rubles each.
