“The incident took place on Beregovaya Street in the village of Metlino on the territory of the ZATO Ozersk,” said Natalya Mamaeva, a representative of the prosecutor's office. - The 54-year-old Opel Astra driver lost control of the vehicle during an overtaking maneuver and drove to the side of the road, where he hit two sisters aged 14 and 16.
The younger girl died at the scene of the accident, the older one was taken to the intensive care unit in serious condition.
During the examination, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region, the detainee has a 30-year driving experience. This year he was already brought to administrative responsibility for speeding.
On the fact of the accident, a criminal case was initiated under the article on violation of traffic rules that caused the death of a person, which provides for punishment for a period of five to 12 years with deprivation of a driver's license for another three years.
