“The curb was the last to fall”: how a resident of Gubkin fell under the sidewalk

Olga Yudina, a resident of the city of Gubkin, Belgorod Region, fell into the ground along with the sidewalk in the city center, and the curb fell on her head. The victim said that she was saved from serious injuries by a pipe, on which she stood when she fell, a mink coat and a warm hat. In the Belgorod region, a woman was injured after falling under the sidewalk. The incident occurred in the city of Gubkin at the intersection of Komsomolskaya and Mira streets. As the victim Olga Yudina said, during the incident she was talking on the phone, her two friends were walking in front of her.

“Under them, nothing failed, but under my 115 kilograms failed. In general, I had some kind of incomprehensible state. As I stood on the tile, so I fell down with this tile, ”the woman explained.

The men who were with her filmed a video of their friend standing in the pit. According to them, Yudina fell on the pipe, and if not for her, the victim would have fallen even lower.

Olga added that parts of the sidewalk were falling on top of her: “One, the tiles began to fall off harder, and bang-bang on my head. And the very last curb fell. My brother said that he weighed 40 kilograms.”

“This curb began to go down me and down my leg, and the leg from knee to ankle was swollen, all purple and abrasions. It's good that I was in a mink coat, it somehow softened this flight, and the hat was warm with a good lining. Otherwise, the whole head would have been pierced, ”said the victim.

For now, Yudina is not ready to deal with compensation, as she thinks about her health. "I'm lying, I'm dying. I took pills, but nothing helps me. The whole body hurts, the head is splitting.

The hospital said that there were no fractures, a bruise of the chest, a bruise of the head, a concussion was given to me for now, but tomorrow I will go to the hospital again, I will open a sick leave. There is some iron taste in the mouth, something unusual. The condition is terrible,” says a resident of Gubkin.

She noted that she would go to the medical examiner on Monday, February 21. So she was advised to do so by the Investigative Committee, which has already begun checking. At the time of writing the comment, no one contacted the woman, except for the district police officer on duty.

The incident became known from the post of a local resident in a public page on VKontakte "PE Belgorod Region". She stated that on the way to the garage, her friend fell into the ground in the truest sense of the word. According to her, the woman fell to a depth of 2.5 m. The rescuers arrived first - within 5-7 minutes. On their own, friends could not get the victim.

“The ambulance [medics] who arrived provided first aid and was hospitalized in the Gubkinsky Central District Hospital. Dear administration, what's going on? Mom would go with a stroller, what would happen? Will you take action? Is it safe to walk the streets of our city or what?” - the post says.

Users shared their stories in the comments. Vladimir Vovik said that he also fell into the ground, but with one foot. “We need to write to the police about bringing to administrative responsibility, then we need to file a lawsuit [for] moral and material [damage] with the court,” he advised.

The administration of the Gubkinsky District commented on the situation on the morning of February 20, stating that the collapse of the tiles occurred due to "a large amount of melt water", which "destroyed the storm sewer well."

“A void was formed about 2 m deep, into which a resident of Gubkin fell. The victim received a chest bruise and was taken to the Gubkin Central District Hospital. After being examined by doctors, she refused hospitalization and is being observed on an outpatient basis, ”the Gubkin Administration noted in the official public on VKontakte.

Officials said utilities are already cleaning up the aftermath. During the day, the walls of the well should be strengthened, and by Monday the pit will be covered.

“A special commission has been created, whose task is to inventory and assess the condition of all wells. The commission should present the results of its activities by the end of the week,” the city administration assured.
