Russia (bbabo.net), - The smallest people in Russia are the Kereks, there are only 4 of them on the territory of our country. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at a meeting of the Council under the government on guardianship in the social sphere.

In total, there are 47 small peoples in Russia, the total number of which is almost 280 thousand people. Moreover, 40 peoples or 260 thousand people are the indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East.

Five peoples - Nenets, Evenki, Khanty, Evens and Chukchi - are the most numerous and make up 59% of the total number of indigenous peoples.

According to Golikova, in 2022-2024, the federal budget provides for annual subsidies of over 156 million rubles to support the economic and social development of small peoples, and 500 million rubles each to support traditional economic activities in the Arctic zone of Russia. About 1.8 billion rubles will be allocated to support the production of handicrafts. Almost 865 million rubles more for the implementation of projects for the development of the industry of socially significant goods will be received by non-profit organizations represented in the territory of residence of small peoples.

Also, in the next three years, for the population of the Far North and the Arctic, 40 will be repaired and 7 new rural houses of culture, 20 children's art schools, 13 museums, 2 cultural development centers will be built, 52 children's art schools will be re-equipped with musical instruments. In addition, a new puppet theater will be built in Kamchatka.
