“According to the operational information that we received from our emergency medical service, there are already 169 injured and 57 deaths. Now we do not divide military and non-military [losses] - these are Ukrainians, ”added the head of the department.
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens of Russia and Ukraine early in the morning on February 24 about the situation in Ukraine.
“We have not been left with the opportunity to protect Russia, except for the one we use today ... I have decided to conduct a special military operation,” Putin said, adding that the purpose of this operation is to protect people.
“And for this we will strive for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine,” the president said.
Putin said that the actions of the Russian Federation are self-defense against the threats created for the country, and Russia cannot simply watch what is happening.
According to him, Russia has been trying for 30 years to agree on the non-expansion of NATO to the East and faced deceit, attempts to pressure and blackmail. Now the “NATO war machine” is coming close to the borders of Russia.
