The Federal Air Transport Agency, together with the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Federal Tourism Agency, is working to organize the export of Russian citizens from European countries. This was reported by Interfax with reference to a joint statement of departments.

Russian tourists abroad were advised to keep in touch with the tour operator or carrier, and be sure to register in the Foreign Assistant mobile application of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

After it is known how many Russians need help, a schedule will be formed.

“Russian airlines are ready to fulfill their obligations to passengers and deliver them home, subject to flexible approaches and constructive decisions of the aviation authorities of European countries on this issue,” the statement said.

According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), over 150,000 Russian tourists are currently abroad, of which 27,000 are in countries where there are problems with flying to the Russian Federation. We are talking about European countries, the Caribbean and the United States.

ATOR noted that in the current situation, tour operators alone cannot cope with the export of all tourists.

The Ministry of Transport has scheduled a special meeting on the current critical situation. With a number of EU countries, the Association reports, agreements can be reached on providing special one-time corridors for export "humanitarian flights".

The closure of European airspace to Russia was one of the measures taken by the EU in response to the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
