70-year-old Pakistani sets world record for grip strength

Nasimuddin, a 70-year-old welder from Karachi, has set the world record for the most apples crushed with one hand per minute, becoming another member of his family to enter the Guinness Book of Records, according to Arab News.

The Pakistani smashed 18 apples, beating previous record holder Johnny Baxter from England, who smashed 13.

“I am 70 years old, but I am young at heart and I feel strength in my hands,” says Nasimuddin, whose son Muhammad Rashid heads the Martial Arts Academy. According to Nasimuddin, it was his son and granddaughter, whose names are also included in the Guinness Book of Records, that inspired him to set the world record.

Muhammad Rashid, whom many call the Bruce Lee of Pakistan, has several dozen world records, including: the most nuts broken by hand in a minute, the most melons broken in a minute, the most cans of lemonade broken by an elbow, as well as records associated with the use of nunchaks and bo - traditional weapons of martial arts. Muhammad's daughter, Fatima Nasim, entered the Guinness Book of Records, inflicting a record 242 elbow strikes per minute against the Indian athlete Kiran Uniyal.

“This record is due to the strength of the hands that my father has, because all his life he has been doing hard work, welding metal. His achievement is an example for all older people. I cannot find words to describe my joy for my father, who inspired me all my life, ”says Muhammad Rashid.
