A youth interfaith seminar “Tradition. Ural. Russia ", organized by the regional branch of the All-Russian public movement for promoting friendship and harmony among youth" All-Russian Interethnic Youth Union "with the support of the Department of Internal Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region.

The seminar was attended by 26 people: young activists of public and religious organizations, students and teachers, employees of the administrations of municipalities of the region in charge of work with youth, harmonization of ethnic and confessional relations and prevention of extremism.

The seminar began in the Administration of the city of Yekaterinburg with discussions of the traditions of interfaith communication and interaction in the history of the capital of the Urals. Representatives of the Department of Internal Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Department of Youth Policy of the City Administration of Yekaterinburg and the Public Chamber of the Sverdlovsk Region supported the discussion on the dialogue of confessions, cultures, traditions of Orthodox Christianity, traditional Islam, Buddhism and Judaism in the Middle Urals, as well as overcoming mutual stereotypes and protecting common traditional spiritual values of Russian society.

Then the participants of the seminar visited religious organizations of four traditional confessions of Russia: the Orthodox parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at the Ural State Mining University of the Yekaterinburg Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Yekaterinburg Jewish Community Center "Synagogue", the Buddhist Center of the Diamond Way Traditions Karma Kagyu and the Mosque "Izge Kalimat" A kind word ") of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Sverdlovsk Region (Central Muftiate).

Religious ministers of each confession answered numerous questions from the seminar participants about the structure and purpose of their religious objects, about their role in the life of believers, about the role of their confessions in the history and culture of Russia and the Middle Urals.

“Today in our region 20 confessions and more than 800 religious organizations carry out their religious activities, reflecting a wide range of religious worldviews and spiritual cultures,” said Pavel Suslonov, consultant for the Ethno-Confessional Relations and Organization of Extremism Prevention Department at the Sverdlovsk Region Department of Internal Policy. - For the Middle Urals and all of Russia, it is extremely important to maintain an atmosphere of peace and harmony between our fellow citizens of different confessions and worldviews. Contradictions and conflicts in the ethno-confessional sphere, xenophobia are generated by the lack of knowledge about the spiritual culture of people living among us. Therefore, I think it is very important to hold such meetings in the format of "immersion" in the cultural environment of various confessional communities. "

The seminar was the result of a series of similar meetings that have been held since 2019 in Yekaterinburg, Kamyshlov, Verkhnyaya Salda, Tavda. Today the Yekaterinburg, Nizhniy Tagil, Kamensk, Alapaevsk and Serovsk dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church, Muslim organizations of Yekaterinburg, Gornozavodsk, Northern, Southern and Eastern administrative districts of the Sverdlovsk region, as well as regional and regional Buddhist and religious organizations and Buddhists are involved in the orbit of interfaith dialogue and enlightenment.
