In Japan, for the first time since 2019, three prisoners were executed

Government sources said three death row prisoners were hanged in Japan on December 21. This is reported by the Japan Times portal with reference to the Kyodo agency.

This marks the first execution in the country since December 2019.

The sources added that the order was given by the Minister of Justice, Yoshihisa Furukawa. When he took office in October, he noted that the death penalty cannot be avoided for someone who "has committed a terrible crime with serious consequences."

So far, there is no information about who was executed and for what crimes.

It is known that on December 26, 2019, a Chinese man was hanged, sentenced to death for the murder of a family of four in 2003 in Fukuoka Prefecture.

Previously, the North Korean authorities publicly executed seven people for watching and distributing K-pop clips.
