Russia (bbabo.net) - The appellate instance of the Moscow City Court dismissed the appeal of the defense against the change in the measure of restraint of the rector of "Shaninka" Seeya Zuev. This was reported by the press service of the court.

Thus, the city court recognized as lawful the extension of the accused's arrest for three months - until March 7, 2022. The defense insisted on replacing Zuev's detention in the pre-trial detention center in connection with his state of health. During the session of the Tverskoy court of Moscow on December 3, when the question of extending the arrest to the rector of "Shaninka" was being decided, he became ill with his heart and had to call an ambulance. Earlier, Zuev was already under house arrest, but by a court decision he was transferred to a pre-trial detention center.

Zuev is accused of a particularly large fraud. According to the investigation, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the former Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova and the former Deputy General Director of the Fund for New Forms of Education Development Yevgeny Zak. Using their official position, they entered into fake employment contracts between the RANEPA and 12 employees of the Ministry of Education for their fictitious part-time employment. Zuev and Rakova do not admit their guilt.

According to the lawyers, the rector did not even know the former official.
