Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sultan Khamzaev proposed to introduce the death penalty for pedophiles. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

At a plenary session on December 21, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill providing for life imprisonment for previously convicted pedophiles for rape of minors.

The parliamentarian supported the law, but added: "I believe that such scum should bear even tougher responsibility." According to Khamzaev, such a crime should be punished with the death penalty. He also noted that not only pedophiles-recidivists, but also those who committed such a crime for the first time should receive the highest term.

In early September, a bill was introduced to the State Duma to toughen the punishment for child molestation. If earlier a pedophile-recidivist could receive a life sentence for sexual abuse of a child under 14 years old, now the deputies propose to apply such a punishment for a recidivism against any minor.
