The newly married Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist have headed to a private island in Fiji, Swedish media reported on Friday.

After their picture-perfect wedding stopped a nation on Saturday, June 13, Prince Carl Philip and his bride snuck away to begin their honeymoon.

The Aftonbladet newspaper broke the news on Friday morning that the royal couple had left just hours after their wedding celebrations, which are said to have carried on until 5.30am on Sunday.

The paper reported that a private island in Fiji will be the first stop on a three-week trip for the couple.

The couple requested to stay out of the spotlight - declining to be interviewed by Aftonbladet's crew on the scene, before taking another flight to a smaller island belonging to the Swiss owner of Red Bull, Dietrich Mateschitz.
