A bill has been submitted to the State Duma that toughens state control over the issuance of firearms. This was stated by the chairman of the State Duma committee on information policy, information technology and communications, Alexander Khinshtein.

“On the final day of the autumn session, together with colleagues Vasily Piskarev and Anatoly Vyborny, we are submitting to the State Duma a bill tightening state control over the issuance of firearms, whose preparation I had previously announced. This initiative is another step towards putting things in order in the sphere of arms turnover, ”the deputy wrote on his Telegram channel.

This initiative involves the verification of all candidates for obtaining weapons by the forces of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the framework of the legislation on operational search activities.

Earlier, Rosgvardia prepared a bill under which a license to purchase weapons will not be issued to persons who have not passed the inspection of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the document, the restrictions are aimed at preventing people involved in extremist and terrorist organizations from getting their hands on weapons.

In early July, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law strengthening state control over the circulation of weapons and toughening the passage of a medical examination to obtain a permit to own it. The law introduces a ban on the acquisition, storage, carrying and use of weapons by persons who have not passed a medical examination for the presence of medical contraindications to the possession of weapons. At the same time, such a medical commission will be able to be carried out by medical organizations exclusively of the state or municipal health care system.
