Russia (bbabo.net), - A resonant criminal case has been opened and is being investigated by local investigators in Smolensk. The basis for the investigation was an offensive comment by one of the bloggers, left by him on a social network. "Based on the results of media monitoring, as well as on the basis of materials received from the regional prosecutor's office and the regional department of the FSB of Russia, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of publicly insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland and humiliating the honor and dignity of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War," the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee said on Thursday RF in the Smolensk region.

The case is being investigated under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A convicted person for such a crime faces a fine in the amount of 2 to 5 million rubles, or forced labor for up to 5 years. The most severe punishment is up to 5 years in prison.

In the period from November 16 to November 17, according to the investigation, a suspect in one of the Internet communities "disseminated information expressing obvious disrespect to society about the days of military glory of Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland." In addition, the defendant published "information degrading the honor and dignity of one of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War."

It is noted that criminologists have already conducted a search at the suspect's place of residence, during which they seized computer equipment. With her help, the imputed crime was committed.

The defendant was detained, in the coming days the court will consider the petition of the Investigative Committee on the election of a preventive measure against him in the form of imprisonment in a pre-trial detention center.

It should be noted that operative support in this case is carried out by officers of the FSB of Russia in the Smolensk region.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Smolensk region reported that they found an offensive comment during the monitoring of publications in one of the social networks. It was left under the publication about the portrait of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War on the facade of school number 22 in Smolensk. Under this post, one of the local residents wrote "a statement expressing clear disrespect for the memorable dates of Russia and degrading the honor and dignity of the veteran."

"The investigation is under the control of the regional prosecutor," the regional prosecutor's office noted.

According to the Smolensk media, the detainee is Alexei Chervyakov, the administrator of the Safonovskiye Vedomosti group. The man in an offensive manner commented on the post about graffiti with a portrait of anti-aircraft gunner Viktor Yakunin on the facade of the Smolensk school.
