Technology in the city: Moscow is becoming the city of the future

We may be surprised, we may not believe, but the future of the fantastic works of the 20th century is already with us. Back in 1911, Hugo Gernsbeck, in his novel Ralph 124C 41+, predicted the technologies we use today: video chat, electric cars and solar energy. Fifteen years later, Alexander Belyaev in his novel "The Lord of the World" invented unmanned aircraft. In 1950, Ray Bradbury got his "smart" home in the story "It Will Be Gentle Rain". Fortunately, the world is developing in the style of utopian novels, when humanity has coped with an environmental crisis, and cities are full of new technologies.

Technologies for the urban environment

Modern trends - environmental friendliness, striving for a healthy lifestyle, digitalization, are reflected in the process of urbanization of cities, rapidly changing them. New technologies are being integrated into our lives. With the help of neural networks-transformers, they now determine the problems of urban infrastructure, using data uploaded by users: a lack of parking spaces, the absence of certain social facilities, the inconvenience of transport routes. Construction and engineering technologies are constantly being improved. Icon specialists received an order to print houses using a 3D printer for El Salvador. In the Arabian desert, it is planned to create a fully autonomous city of robots NEOM, ten and a half times the size of Moscow. And construction companies in the capital are implementing energy efficient projects aimed at caring for the environment and people.

The study of the experience of different developers shows that the capital of Russia pays more and more attention to the environmental friendliness of new residential areas. Donstroy became a good example of this approach; by the way, he was recognized as the most environmentally friendly developer among Moscow developers (Urban Awards). When implementing projects for integrated development of territories, the company uses LED-illumination of public spaces and paths in yards with motion sensors, collection of rainwater for technical needs, ITP with automatic heat supply. All this, of course, allows you to save resources, but it also opens up such a new and unusual approach to the construction of housing - the creation of cities for people who care about their future right now. All "green" developers adhere to this practice. There are already buildings in the world with zero energy consumption and low water costs. So, the roof and the entire facade of the ABB project in Switzerland are faced with solar panels. According to residents, they have enough energy even in the winter months. In the Park Mozaik A Block project in Turkey's Ankara, water-saving systems have reduced water consumption by more than 40%.

Moscow is pursuing sustainable development

Governments around the world support building practices that save resources, reduce the carbon footprint of cities and reduce emissions. This year Moscow took the leading position in the European rating "Cities of the Future: ESG-Innovation Index", according to RIA Novosti. The research for the rating notes that the number of ESG-oriented organizations in Moscow is constantly growing. According to the head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city of Moscow, Alexei Fursin, - "The compilers of the rating noted the policy of the Moscow government aimed at promoting the principles of ESG, which is a response to the request of Muscovites, as well as a high level of interaction with the international technological community and transport accessibility of the city."

Switching to electric cars and planting flowers

Public transport is changing using green technologies. Moscow today has the largest electric bus fleet in Europe - 800 units. Berlin has the largest network of bike paths, including for electric scooters and bicycles - 1,697 km. Vienna has launched a new smart traffic light technology program to recognize the intent of pedestrians. You no longer need to press a button, the traffic light will understand that you want to cross the road.Developers are also getting involved in improving the transport situation in the city. In this part, I would like to note the rational infrastructure of public transport in Donstroi's projects, which, by offering a convenient alternative, allows to reduce pendulum auto-migration in the city. Houses in the projects "Island", "Symbol", "Event", "Lights", "River" and "Heart of the Capital" are located within walking distance from the metro. The company adheres to ESG principles and in its residential complexes places parking lots for electric vehicles and installs CO2 sensors in underground parking lots. As part of the development of the global AV-industry (autonomous vehicles), which is responsible for introducing autonomous vehicles into our lives, Donstroy creates a barrier-free environment throughout the project area for the further possible use of unmanned rover delivery vehicles. The construction of all Donstroi facilities is carried out with the financial support of VTB Bank, which in November approved the ESG strategy for 2022-2025, having adopted high standards of sustainable development.

The improvement and organization of sports and recreation opportunities is an important part of the urban space. Parks, squares, playgrounds and sports grounds increase annually in number, but the practice of creating public gardens is a new direction. For example, in Tivoli Green City in Brussels, 11 houses in the complex have 10 plots where residents can plant flowers or vegetables and then harvest. Donstroy also creates his "summer school" for amateur gardeners in the Sobytie park in Moscow's Ramenki, where the company is building three projects "Lights", "River" and "Sobytie".

We want a musical fountain

Another trend is the participation of residents in the process of changing the urban environment.

For example, a pilot project of collaborative design was completed in Moscow last year. As part of the My District program, residents took part in creating new looks for their yards.

In 2021, VEB.RF launched the “5 steps of improvement” program for the 100 largest cities in Russia. A similar project has already been successfully implemented from 2016 to 2018. It was attended by 318 monotowns. Residents left their suggestions for improving the urban environment on the program website. Within the framework of the competition, works of street art were created, historical buildings were restored, parks, squares, beach areas and local areas were landscaped. Thus, a musical fountain appeared on the main square of the city of Uchaly in Bashkiria, and a light fountain "Tesla" appeared in Belogorsk, for which the majority of the townspeople voted.

Through the eyes of residents

The social component in development is reflected in the care for every inhabitant. In the new project of Donstroya "Ostrov" "children's routes" will be organized, the purpose of which will be the occupation and development of preschool children during the walk. There will be stands with play elements at the level of the child's eyes and small sports islands. And for older people, the company creates a unique seamless recreational route with seating areas, awnings and benches.

Today developers, like chess players, calculate the trajectories of trends in advance and are already implementing what will be important for their buyers in a few years. The infrastructure we read about yesterday in books is now being brought to life. With each new project, the urban environment evolves to ultimately form a space for the harmonious existence of man and the world around him.
