The European Commission has stated that it wishes Poland to start including a series of graphic photos on its cigarette packs by next year, reports TVN24.

The news station remarks that a total of 14 “dramatic images” are to be used with some photos of a woman coughing up blood, wounds after smoking-related surgery, and an amputated leg. Each photo must be accompanied by a description explaining why the image has been placed there, for example: next to a photo of ravaged teeth it should say “smoking destroys teeth and gums”, and next a newborn baby picture it should state “smoking can kill your unborn child”.
