Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko in an interview with RIA Novosti said that in Moscow, the Moscow region and Tatarstan from 2023 they will begin to introduce a digital passport.
He explained that a digital passport is an analogue of an electronic bank card with a contactless chip. In addition, you can enter the TIN, SNILS or driver's license number in it.
“The card, containing several degrees of protection against counterfeiting, will include the personal data of a person, his photograph. All preparatory measures will be completed by the end of next year, ”the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
According to him, the system project of the digital passport is already ready, technical tests of the basic electronic components - the microcircuit and the letterhead - have been carried out.
Earlier it was reported that passports with electronic media will be issued on a voluntary basis to citizens of the Russian Federation, starting from the age of 14. The pilot region for the project is Moscow. The rest of the regions will join as soon as they are technically ready.
Prior to that, it became known that 41% of Russians are not ready to give up a paper passport and replace it with a smart card. 31% of Russians are ready to change their paper passport for a smart card if the Ministry of Digital Industry makes such a decision. 28% found it difficult to estimate.
