Tour operators have turned to Rospotrebnadzor with a request to check the insurance conditions for tourists traveling abroad, Kommersant reports.

In their appeal, travel agents write about the frequent complaints of tourists that insurance companies are evading the fulfillment of obligations under concluded contracts if incidents occurred with them while intoxicated.

Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, noted that medical insurance is an obligatory part of tours abroad. At the same time, most policies do not apply to injuries, accidents and poisoning received while intoxicated.

Rospotrebnadzor replied that they received the appeal and would consider it in due course.

The day before, it was reported that tour operators in 2021 earned less than in 2020, but the situation in the tourism market has improved. High sales of tours abroad were hampered by restrictions in those countries where Russians were banned from flying. This was also facilitated by the lack of opportunity for smaller tour operators to work in their niche: as a result, all companies sold any directions.
