This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the FSB of Russia in Moscow and the Moscow region. The verdict was passed by the Second Western Military Court, convicted by A.S. Umarov. He will have to serve 19 years in a strict regime colony.

Umarov was charged with the promotion of terrorist activities, public appeals to it, as well as participation in the terrorist community and the illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage of explosives and the manufacture of explosives.

The investigation collected, as noted in the report of the Moscow FSB, exhaustive evidence of Umarov's guilt in "preparing to commit a terrorist attack in the building of the Second Western Military Court by detonating an improvised explosive device."

It was established that in order to implement his plans, Umarov got a job as a handyman in a Russian family living in a country house. At the same time, the convict received instructions on preparing for a terrorist attack from the leaders of ISIS (an international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). According to them, he purchased chemicals from a hardware store to collect explosives, as well as ammunition. He hid the collected explosive device in a forest belt adjacent to the house in which he lived. "After the terrorist attack, Umarov planned to travel to the Middle East, to the war zone, where he intended to join terrorist groups. However, in November 2020, he was detained in one of the villages near Moscow," the special service said.

Later, during a search, investigators found a "cache" in which the convict kept an improvised explosive device, power supply elements, a flag with ISIS symbols, change of clothes and communication equipment.
