Russia - the Russian Orthodox Church sent more than 50 million rubles of social assistance to the diocese

Russia (bbabo.net), - Over fifty million rubles of donations were channeled to charity in the diocese in the outgoing year in the diocese. Some of these funds were transferred after those in need approached the federal hotline for assistance. These data, published on the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as in the final reporting report for 2021, were presented by the chairman of the synodal department, Bishop Panteleimon of Verey.

He called the launch of a federal hotline for church social assistance at the beginning of the year "a real breakthrough". Now every person in need can call the round-the-clock toll-free number and ask for such support.

As a result, according to the Russian Orthodox Church, every month the hotline opened by the charity department in conjunction with the Orthodox service "Mercy" receives over three thousand phone calls a month and the number of calls is growing. Thanks to the help of benefactors, over 54 million rubles were allocated to 53 dioceses. They went, among other things, to help those who called the hotline.

Also, according to the information of the Synodal Department, in the outgoing year they transferred over 32 million rubles to 84 dioceses for the purchase of food sets. The problem is that during a pandemic, a considerable part of people no longer had enough funds for the most necessary things - for food.
