Russia - A new rector of MEPhI has been appointed

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Moscow Engineering Physics Institute has a new leader. Since December 30, Vladimir Shevchenko has been appointed rector of the university - he will hold this position until December 29, 2026. Vladimir Shevchenko is a graduate of MEPhI: he graduated from the university in 1996, and with honors.

Behind his shoulders - more than ten years of work at the Kurchatov Institute, as well as in leading nuclear centers in Europe, including CERN. According to the Ministry of Education and Science, Shevchenko has extensive experience in megaprojects proposed and implemented by the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute".

Since July 3, 2021, Vladimir Shevchenko has been the acting rector of MEPhI.

Today MEPhI is one of the largest universities in Russia. It became one of the first two national research universities and was renamed the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.

Today, the university firmly holds a leading position in the training of specialists of the highest level, combining the principles of the synthesis of education and scientific research, laid down more than 75 years ago.

Six Nobel Prize winners studied and worked at MEPhI at one time, and three of them received the Nobel Prize while working at the university.
