This initiative was put forward by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education Yana Lantratova.

The deputy sent an appeal to the head of the Ministry of Education Sergei Kravtsov.

In the letter, Lantratova recalled that the head of Rospotrebnazdor Anna Popova had previously announced a possible deterioration of the epidemiological situation after the New Year holidays. This may be due to the increase in human contacts since the New Year and the spread of the new omicron strain.

In order to prevent deterioration of the situation and disruption of the educational process, the deputy asks the profile minister to consider the possibility of extending the vacation for a week. "To fulfill the curriculum, I also propose to consider the possibility of compensating missed classes in future periods at the discretion of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation," the parliamentarian added.
