A resident of the Sverdlovsk region was found guilty of murders and rapes committed in 1996 and sentenced to 22 years in a maximum security penal colony. This is reported by TASS with reference to the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

“In the Sverdlovsk Region, a local resident was found guilty of the 1996 murder of several people. By a court verdict, the defendant, taking into account the term for an earlier sentence in another criminal case, was sentenced to 22 years in prison with serving in a strict regime correctional colony, ”the department said.

The man was brought to justice when he was already serving a sentence for other crimes - he was imprisoned in 2004.

In early 1996, the convict drowned a woman in the bathroom, after which he strangled and raped her thirteen-year-old daughter and sixteen-year-old girl friend. The perpetrator was found on biological materials taken at the scene. In 2020, experts found that the evidence coincided with the man's genetic profile.

Earlier, in the Tyumen region, two local residents were sentenced to 14 and 17 years for killing a man on a bet.
