Law enforcers used flashbang grenades against protesters in Almaty

About 1,000 people gathered at Republic Square in Almaty, Telegram channel Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.

Protesters reportedly smash police cars. They beat one police officer.

The security forces used tear gas and stun grenades. A large number of law enforcement officers cordoned off the building of the city akimat (administration). There are a lot of police, SOBR representatives, special forces in the area.

At the same time, the security forces in NurSultan began to disperse the protesters.

Earlier it was reported that protesters clashed with the police in several cities of Kazakhstan.

It also became known that the protesters tried to storm the building of the akimat (administration) of the regional center Aktau.

In the west of Kazakhstan, for several days, mass protests have not subsided due to the rise in prices for liquefied gas. Since the New Year, the cost of gas at local gas stations has increased dramatically. If last year its retail price in this region was 50-60 tenge per liter (about 10 rubles), then since the beginning of this year prices at local gas stations have increased to 120 tenge per liter (about 21 rubles).
