German scientists find asymptomatic COVID-19 can lead to organ damage

Asymptomatic COVID-19 disease has consequences. This conclusion was reached by a group of scientists from Germany, according to the European Heart Journal.

Researchers warn that even a mild course of the disease can cause damage to various organs. In particular, a person may have decreased lung capacity, increased airway resistance, heart problems, decreased kidney function, and an increased risk of venous thrombosis in the lower extremities.

As the scientists write, the data obtained are of particular importance, since the omicron strain, which today is actively spreading all over the world, is often asymptomatic or mild.

Earlier, Johns Hopkins University reported that the number of detected cases of coronavirus infection since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded 300 million people. As of 08:00 am Friday, January 7, the number of people infected with COVID-19 was 300,095,481, and the number of deaths reached 5,472,039.
