The state-owned company Avtodor (which operates toll roads in Russia) urged motorists not to use high-speed highways in cars uncleaned of snow. Among other things, the presence of a snowdrift on the roof of a car can lead to incorrect tariffication when driving on toll roads, the department warned.

"In paid sections, if the snowdrift on the car is high, the classification of vehicles may be incorrect, since the system determines the category of the vehicle by the highest point," the official Telegram channel of Avtodor said.

The State Company stressed that a large layer of snow on the roof worsens the aerodynamic performance of the car, increases fuel consumption, and can also cause an accident: when braking, the snow cap will slide onto the windshield, completely blocking the driver's view. In addition, at high speeds, snow and ice from the roof can fall backward and damage other vehicles.
