Russia (bbabo.net), - The Telegram messenger may be subject to "millions" of fines if the company does not comply with German law. This was stated in an interview with Bild am Sonntag by the Minister of Justice F Marco Buschmann.

According to him, the messenger should appoint an official representative in Germany and create a mechanism for notification of illegal content.

"If the next attempt to deliver the notification fails, the next step will be a public notification. After that we can impose a monetary fine. Our laws provide for millions in fines," the official said.

The German authorities are concerned that opponents of coronavirus restrictions are coordinating their actions through the messenger, including threats against politicians.

Earlier, Telegram paid off debt on fines of 15 million rubles in six enforcement cases in Russia.
