Russia - YablokovSAD pushes the boundaries: two RG projects on one interactive map

Russia (bbabo.net), - Five years ago, on January 10, 2017, Alexei Vladimirovich Yablokov, a world-renowned environmental scientist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, public and statesman, passed away. And today, on the day of his memory, an interactive map called "YablokovSad pushes the boundaries" becomes publicly available.

Yandex.MapsYandex.Maps - transport, navigation, search for places Yablokova. And the collection of materials for placement on the map began in the spring of 2020 - on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Victory, when the "Garden of Memory" volunteer action was unfolding in Russia.

The compilers of the map set out to combine, using multimedia technologies, two socially significant initiatives supported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta: preserving the memory and continuing the work of the famous scientist and environmentalist in the YablokovSAD project and saving and protecting the memory of those who fell during the Great Patriotic War. Details - in two publications: "YablokovSad became a garden of memory and hope" and "Three letters and the order came together in one day on the Guards Alley".

How did these two themes come together? In April-May 2020, as part of the already mentioned all-Russian action on the territory of YablokovSAD in the village of Petrushovo, Kasimovsky District, Ryazan Region, it was planned to plant fruit trees and wild plants in memory of fellow countrymen who died during the war. They intended to do this with the participation of local residents with the organizational support of the district administration and the Giblitsky rural settlement.

In advance, in the winter of 2019-2020, they began to verify the names of the compatriots who went to war and did not return. It turned out that many were not included in the regional memory book. These data were transferred to the administration of the settlement and to the local school - with a proposal to double-check and take into account during the reconstruction of the memorial. First of all, in order to replenish the list of names to be applied to marble slabs, as planned by the reconstruction project.

Such a gesture from our side did not meet with understanding. Perhaps because this was not part of the plans of the head of the administration V.S. Trubochkin, who single-handedly directed the reconstruction project and also single-handedly disposed of finances. As it turned out, the lists of names to be applied to marble had already been drawn up. As a result, the memorial was opened with a list of names that was long ago - incomplete and with factual distortions.

What was left? In September 2020, when a narrow window in covid restrictions opened, a cross action was held in the Ryazan and Smolensk regions, which was provided with informational support from the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.

What is done? In Petrushovo, on the territory of YablokovSAD, more than 30 fruit trees were planted in memory of relatives and friends who did not return from the war. And the "Alley of Memory" was laid, where named trees were planted in memory of those fellow countrymen who could not find a place on the marble slabs of the new memorial.

On the same day, 18 young pines were dug from the territory of YablokovSAD, which were transported 480 km - from the homeland of the twice hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut Vladimir Aksenov, a native of the village of Giblitsy, to the homeland of the first cosmonaut - in the Gagarinsky district of the Smolensk region. Delivered to the place where 18 natives of the Ryazan region were killed in an unequal battle on February 23, 1943 as part of the ski battalion of the 29th Guards Rifle Division. Young pines, according to the number of those killed, were planted on the Gvardeyskaya Alley at the mass grave of a ski bat in the village of Leskino.

All this was reflected in the pilot version of the map, which at that moment was titled as follows: "YablokovSAD became the garden of Memory and Victory".

We discussed the resulting version with local residents, with colleagues and friends of Alexei Yablokov, and his family. And we decided to continue working on the map with the already united forces - in order to clarify, supplement, saturate it with information, new facts, examples, illustrations that would reflect the life, multifaceted activities of A.V. Yablokov and the memory of him.

As a result, the symbolic boundaries of YablokovSAD were significantly expanded. You can see what happened at this link.

For those who decide to use, we give a few simple tips.

Seven tips on how to use the map

The interactive map "YablokovSAD pushes the boundaries" is built on the standard service "Yandex Maps" and has all its functionality.

Markers-icons put on the map are active: by left-clicking on any of them, you will see explanatory information.

In the description of most of the points, there is a reference to visual information (photos, videos, documents, etc.) - this is a colored font with an underline. If you click on it with the left mouse button, the images will open for viewing in full screen format. To return to the map, you must close the viewport. To look at different parts of the map, press and hold the left mouse button, and use the cursor to move the map in the desired direction (left, right, up, down. This function works at any selected map scale.

Changing the scale of the map is important, and in our project, the key point. It allows you to find and view the described object with an exact geographic reference to the place. You can change the scale of the map using the mouse wheel: roll it towards you to zoom out, away from you - to zoom in.

The most convenient way to work with our project is to open it in Yandex Maps - there is a link for this in the lower left corner of the screen. In this case, you can zoom in and out of the map using the vertical scale with the "+" and "-" signs. At the same time, it becomes possible to choose (icons at the top right) the type of cartographic basis: a traditional map-scheme, satellite imagery or "hybrid" (combination of the first and the second).

The "Ruler" button allows you to measure the distance on the map: after pressing the button, mark the points, the distance between which you want to measure.

All descriptions of markers on the map are collected in the "Legend" located in the vertical column to the left of the map field. If you wish, you can view the "Legend" and go to the desired point on the map directly from there - just left-click on the icon-symbol in the tag description. By analogy, directly from the "Legend" you can view the illustrations and return to the map again.
