Russia - Doctors have listed ways to deal with depression after the holidays

Russia (bbabo.net), - The existence of a "seasonal depression" several years ago was refuted by a group of American researchers. Nevertheless, psychologists and doctors annually note in patients a post-New Year exacerbation of insomnia and depressed mood. The neurophysiological mechanism of this phenomenon has not yet been revealed. But still, medicine is trying to deal with such painful conditions.

First, doctors advise to eat as much fresh vegetables and fruits as possible after the holidays. Thus, in an interview with Sputnik radio, Andrey Bobrovsky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Nutritionist, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of St. digestive systems.

“The winter blues is largely associated not only with a decrease in the number of sunny days, but also with a deficiency of vitamins and minerals obtained from fruits,” says Andrei Bobrovsky. “The plus of fresh fruits is that they contain so-called water-soluble vitamins. This is a class of vitamins, which do not linger in the human body for a long time. It is impossible to create a supply of them, they can be obtained only from vegetables and fruits. It is advisable to choose seasonal fruits that ripen during this period in certain countries. A classic example is tangerines. "

Secondly, the post-New Year's menu should be balanced in fiber, that is, it should contain not only easily digestible carbohydrates, but also cereals. "Fiber is an indispensable component of the diet of a modern person. It carries out a powerful prevention of atherosclerosis, and therefore cardiovascular diseases, as well as overweight, because all food rich in fiber makes you feel full, and a person costs less food", - told Andrey Bobrovsky. Lack of vitamins and fiber is dangerous, first of all, by a decrease in immunity, exacerbation of chronic diseases, hormonal changes, disorders of digestion and metabolic processes, a decrease in general tone, as well as the occurrence of depression.

Doctors also recommend that you diversify your post-New Year's menu with food rich in protein, since it provides us with the necessary amino acids. They will help with this: turkey meat, fish, dairy products (cottage cheese, soft and hard types of cheese, feta cheese) and certainly fermented milk food (kefir, yoghurts, fermented baked milk, yogurt, Mechnikovskaya yogurt, bifidok). "Fermented milk products are rich in probiotics and lactobacilli," explains the therapist Fallahi Nurzhakhan in an interview with RIA Novosti. In addition to fermented milk products, the doctor definitely recommends including sauerkraut in the diet, which "should be on the winter menu, since with natural fermentation it produces a large amount of vitamins, in particular ascorbic acid and probiotics."

To replenish the body with tryptophan - an essential amino acid involved in the formation of serotonin ("the hormone of happiness"), according to doctors, such foods as cheese, fish, white meat, legumes, cottage cheese, mushrooms, oats, peanuts, pine nuts, almonds and pistachios will help ... For a more detailed selection of the diet, you should seek the advice of a specialist.
