Graffiti artist gets to work on Polish ferry

A noted graffiti artist is in the process of transforming a passenger ferry currently docked in Szczecin, northern Poland.

Mariusz Waras, whose previous commissions include murals in New York, Paris and Mexico City, has some 600 square metres to play with in his latest project. Waras was hired by Polferries, Poland's largest ferry operator, to weave his magic on the bow of Mazovia, a vessel purchased by the company in June 2014. His design resembles a vast fish emerging from the water, and the artist has made use of the distinctive folk patterns of Poland's Łowicz region (a part of Mazovia). Next month, Mazovia will go into service on a route between Polish Świnoujście and the Swedish port of Ystad.
