Spartak refused to sell Gigot until the end of the season

Spartak football player Samuel Gigot will not leave the team until the end of the season, the club is not considering selling the French defender in the winter transfer window, said the sports director of the red-whites Luca Cattani.

Zhigot's contract with Spartak expires at the end of this season.

Sporting director announces good news for Spartak I fully agree with the fans, Gigot is incredibly important to us. He has six months left on his contract, and he has the right to make his own decision. But for all this time, Gigot has shown great loyalty to Spartak, he and his agent behave very respectfully and do not consider leaving in January, ”Cattani told reporters.

According to the functionary, he was repeatedly approached by representatives of various clubs to transfer the defender, but he immediately said that Gigot was not for sale.

“I received numerous calls about Gigot, and I always answered that he was not for sale. We are not even considering this option, although in six months he will be a free agent. I don't want to weaken the team in January. What will happen in the summer is another story, but now it will be a weakening of the team. I can't afford that," Cattani added.

Earlier it was reported about the interest in Gigot from Turkish Trabzonspor, Mexican Tigres, Italian Torino, as well as French Lyon and Marseille.

Gigot has been playing for Spartak since the summer of 2018 and has played 96 matches for the Red-and-Whites, in which he scored nine goals.
