Figure skater Valieva explained the mistakes during the winning skate at the European Championship

Figure skater Kamila Valieva said after winning the European Championships that she was more emotional in the free program, and this could cause errors when performing jumps, writes Sport-Express.

“Today was a working rental, not everything worked out, but I will work. I tried to include a little more emotions - and somewhere it prevented me, maybe. But I tried to feel calm in the program,” Valieva said at a press conference.

Valieva on Saturday, January 15, won the European Championship, gaining 259.06 points in two rentals. In the free program, the skater fell off the triple axel and made a mistake on the quadruple sheepskin coat. She won the short program, breaking her own world record.

The second and third places at the European Championships were taken by Russians Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova, respectively.

Tarasova praised Valieva's victory at the 2022 European Figure Skating Championships Figure skating “I am very happy to get to the Olympic Games. Being there is already an achievement. To visit the Olympic village, to feel this energy. And in Beijing, I would really like to see the Great Wall of China. It would be very interesting, because it seems to me that everyone from those who come to China should see it,” Valieva added.

Valieva is the current champion of Russia, the owner of all three world records in women's singles (in short and free programs and in total).

The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February.
